First Landing State Park Beach Access

The First Landing State Park offers beach access, hiking, biking and more.

The beach access is a wonderful place to enjoy a clean and safe beach experience. The beach is usually not super crowded and the water is calm on most days. There are several boardwalks that will take you to the dunes but remember to never walk on the dunes as you could hurt the wildlife and plants. We recommend bringing bug spray as well as sunscreen to avoid any bites or stings! There aren't any lifeguards on duty so make sure you are keeping your eyes on the little ones always! Bring beach chairs, towels, hats, and games for entertainment. Bring a frisbee, a soccer ball, or Kadima paddles for fun game options. You can also bring portable horseshoes or cornhole for enetertainment that everyone can enjoy. You can also make a fun game out of watching the ships go to and from the bay. There are outdoor showers at every boardwalk and restrooms close to each walkway. The shower is great for getting all of the extra sand out of those pesky spots and you can rest easy knowing a real bathroom is close by!
Make a day of it and pick up some food for a beach picnic or order takeout from one of our many Virginia Beach restaurant recommendations. Make sure you bring a blanket to eat on and sippy cups, cutlery, napkins, and other picnic essentials. There is plenty to do on the beach and this access point is your key to the ocean!
