In Chan Kaajal Park, means “my little town” in Mayan and was built in response to the Latino and Indigenous Mayan communities of the Mission.
This long awaited park, is a cute play space that is great for the local community and appeals to both kids and adults. There is a giant climbing structure which is a favorite among park visitors! Across the way is an adult fitness area which is awesome for the gown ups to try and squeeze in som exercise while watching the little ones; even though the littles will definitely explore and climb all over it! There is a water structure to play and splash in, a few bucket swings, some spinning toys, water fountains, and places to sit. The community garden encourages members of the community to plant and grow, which is awesome in the urban environment. It is also fun to check out what’s growing and to admire the flowers. There is a big grassy area and small stage for public performances or movies in the park.
There are lots of nearby restaurants, taquerias, and cafes in the Mission and a few blocks away on the Valencia Street Corridor as well.
