Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden's Tree Trail is a stroller-friendly nature walk, perfect for the whole family.

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden offers so much for the entire family. We love visiting the garden so much, and find it to be a wonderful, multi-generational activity, or an outing to show off our city to out of town guests. One of the "hidden" parts of Lewis Ginter is the Tree Trail. In fact, we have been visiting Lewis Ginter for over 10 years, and just recently discovered this enchanted part of the garden.

When you arrive at the garden, park in the lot outside the visitor's center. I recommend purchasing your tickets online, in advance. To access the Tree Trail, follow the paved path back to the Children's Garden. Once you've past the small plaza area, stay straight. Continue past the picnic area. You will see the "Tree Trail" sign hanging off a tree. Follow the path! 

Once you're back within the "Tree Trail", you will be able to feel the magic of this little hike! It is quite short, and the entire thing is stroller-friendly, including the route to get here from the entrance. There are lots of fairy houses, created from objects in nature. My daughter loves admiring the fairy houses, and often comes home and creates her own with items in our yard. The trees are also labeled by species within the Tree Trail. There's also a scavenger hunt within the Tree Trail, too, with questions to ask your children as they walk through. Walking the trail takes about 20 minutes, and for young kids, it is an outing all in itself!

I recommend packing water, and sunscreen for this outing. Although the "Tree Trail" is shaded, accessing the path to get there isn't, so be prepared. If your crew needs to cool off, head to the library, near the Visitor's Center, which has nature-themed books, puzzles, games and toys. Alternatively, if yearning for more outdoor adventure, head to Bryan Park, less than five minutes away. There's a playground, lake, and disc golf course!
