Pegasus Coffee is one of the nation’s most historic coffee companies, and you can visit the iconic original location on Bainbridge Island. The Seattle area is of course known for coffee and Pegasus Coffee’s first location is a historical landmark.

The brick building built in 1937 (and originally a hardware store) is completely covered in ivy, giving it a really fun and unique old-timey look. The inside is warm and welcoming with a cozy fireplace, and the perfect place to grab a hot drink. There is also outdoor seating available when the weather is nice.

Your kiddos can enjoy a hot chocolate or chocolate milk while you sip on one of Pegasus’s delicious drinks like a latte, macchiato, or white chocolate mocha. Of course, they have regular drip coffee and cold brew for those whole prefer less fancy drinks! Fun fact: Pegasus was the first coffee roaster to serve espresso over the counter in the Seattle area, and their lattes still use the same recipe they started with over 40 years ago!

Pegasus Coffee also offers breakfast and lunch, with menu items such as breakfast sandwiches, omelettes, and chicken and waffles. There’s a kids’ breakfast that includes a pancake, egg, bacon, and milk, as well as an assortment of pastries such as muffins that kids will love!

On your way out be sure to grab a bag of whole bean coffee to go. They also have a small merchandise section if you need a souvenir. Pegasus is open Sunday through Thursday 7 am to 5 pm and Friday and Saturday 7 am to 6 pm.

Pegasus Coffee is a great place to stop while visiting Bainbridge Island. Be sure to visit Fort Ward Park and the Kids Discovery Museum while you are there!

I am a Massachusetts native who grew up in the suburbs of Boston and on Cape Cod. As a military spouse I have lived all over the country from Florida to California, and several places in between. My family has now settled in Virginia where I am a stay-at-home mom to two awesome girls. I love to explore and hike National and State Parks, and spend tons of time at the beach with my kids, splashing in the waves in the summer and searching for shells and seaglass in the winter. I also love running, yoga and cooking!
