Saunders Nature Preserve in Gladwyne is a beautiful hiking trail to get out and enjoy nature.

Sitting on 25 acres of preserved land, this nature trail will have you breathing in the fresh air and gorgeous scenery you will not forget easily.  There is a small parking lot when you enter.  Once you enter the park, you will see a signed entrance where you can pick up a trail map, which I suggest for your first visit.  You will follow a mowed trail; at the far back end, you will see a spot to enter the dirt trail that enters the woods.  For small children, I suggest a baby carrier, as there are rocky areas and a creek and small bridges to walk across. Overall, the trail is easy for beginner hikers and short, depending on which turns you decide to take (reference the map).  My young toddler could walk the trail independently, except for assistance across the narrow bridges and creek.  I would suggest bug spray, depending on the time of year you go.  Please watch out for signs for private areas, as a private residence is in the middle of the preserve.

A historic barn onsite is available to rent for parties and is sometimes used for public events. Dogs are allowed on the trail, with a leash required. There are several picnic tables by the barn, where you may enjoy your snack or lunch on.  If you cannot find a parking spot in the small lot, there is plenty of residential parking not far from the parking lot.  Reference the map, which you may also find online, to see where the pedestrian-only trails are.  There are also pedestrian and equestrian trails that are shared to both, which you will find on the map.
