Treehouse Vineyards is a unique, hidden gem nestled behind a neighborhood.

Located in Monroe, just southeast of Charlotte, Treehouse Vineyards offer a beautiful setting to enjoy a family friendly outing together. Did you know North Carolina was the largest wine-producing state before prohibition? Neither did Phil Norton who started the Treehouse Vineyards. They have been growing grapes on their farm for over 50 years for personal use. In 1999 they built the first treehouse for his wife and family. Before opening the vineyard, they decided to build a second for overnight stays. In 2004, 2004 the vineyard was born. In 2005, the first grape vines were planted and the rest is history. There are eight varieties of muscadine grapes grown on the property. Since muscadine grapes are native to North Carolina, they can grow easily and organically. Their wine run on the sweeter side but they do have a Cabernet and Merlo as well. Their unique flavors have people coming back for more. They also have wine slushees in the summer to beat the heat. These can be made without alcohol for the kids as well.

Named after the treehouses on the property, Treehouse Vineyards offers three treehouses to enjoy. The first treehouse which is near the main entrance is called the Date Night. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon or evening up 30ft in the air on the porch of the treehouse. This can be rented out hourly for a great date night or close family setting. When the treehouse isn't reserved you can walk up and check it all out and the view over the vineyard. The second one is called Papa's Dream which overlooks the vineyard pond. You can reserve this for overnight stays and the treehouse is complete with hot/cold water, heating/AC, efficiency style kitchen, kitchenette, bathroom with shower, love seat, queen size bed in a loft, and a deck with a grill. This would be great for families with older kids to take on a small overnight getaway or a parents getaway. The last treehouse is called the Horsefeathers Hideaway. This is a modern spacious treehouse that can hold 2 - 8 people. Perfect for a family weekend getaway. This is a great place to unwind and unplug from the hustle and bustle. This treehouse has views of the vineyard, woods, and creek that runs through there. Check out all the reservation information on their website.

Their large outdoor patio is nicely shaded and a perfect place to sit and unwind from the busyness of life. Bring a board game or two play with the family while you enjoy the evening. They offer snacks in the main area but you can bring food in as well. They also have food trucks come and join in on the weekends. Treehouse Vineyards has live music and dancing on the weekends, outdoor yoga, and other great events. Remember that this is a place meant for adults, they ask for no horse playing, running around, and no children in the treehouse without an adult. Overall it's still a great place for the whole family to enjoy. During events you can rent tables to guarantee you a spot and in the winter you can rent out fire pits as well.

Check out Treehouse Vineyards for your next afternoon, evening, or an overnight adventure with the family. You can check them out on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram @treehousevineyards for all the latest updates.
