Westmoreland Nature Park Playground has logs and rocks to climb and a sand play area with a water pump.

Because Westmoreland Nature Park playground has a sand play area and seasonal water pump, it is perfect in the summer. There are even sand toys left behind for others to use if they are without their own. I've seen this many places in the Portland area, and I think it is a very kind effort from the community to share. But, because the playground also has other natural elements to play on, like rocks and logs to climb and a slide, it is also perfect at different times of the year. So, no matter the weather, you can find something in the park to play with at the playground.

A paved trail is one mile long outside the playground, near sports fields and seasonal restrooms. There are a lot of geese which means goose poop. There is also a pond type water area that is unfenced next to the playground but a bit set away from it. There is also creek access next to the bridge which leads from SE 22nd to the playgroud and is also without a fence. So, I would be wary of keeping kids away from these water areas without strict supervision. Since the back of the park is next to highway 99, there is a fair amount of road noise but it is across from the playground quite a ways.

After leaving the playground, you can walk 6 blocks up to SE Milwaukie Avenue to grab coffee at Fairlane Coffee and I've been really itching to try Twisted Croissant & Patisserie, but I ran out of time before school pickup. It is a very walkable and cute neighborhood with nice architecture. I felt very safe parking on SE 22nd but SE 23drd has the official parking lot. However, it had people living out of RVs so I decided not to park there. If you wanted to drive up to SE Milwaukee Avenue instead of walk, I found free and easy parking next to Fairlane Coffee since I was short on time. But, it looked like a beautiful stroll from the park.
