The Alberta Street Pub is a popular place for the kids to rock out to their favorite Portland bands. There is a variety of bands that play here almost every single day, typically during the lunch time hours. It’s the perfect way to get out of the house and turn the kids loose.
It’s not uncommon to see a slew of eager little ones congregate to the front of the stage to sing, dance and interact with their favorite musicians. There is a good feeling of joy and community here so parents feel comfortable letting their kids mingle with their friends on the dance floor while parents hang in the back and enjoy a pint or bite to eat. Depending on the band, kids are sometimes welcome on stage to interact with their favorite musicians and get an up-close view of the instruments. You will see kids of all ages, from newborns snuggled in carriers to school-age kids getting their wiggles out with their friends. There is a heavy rotation of popular Portland-area bands that enjoy playing at the Alberta Street Pub and play a mix of kid covers and unique and original songs appropriate for kids of all ages. Imagine silly hats made with bundles of pipe cleaners, chicken dances, sing-a-longs, and fun instruments like a tiny trumpet or ukelele. Imagine a community of friendly parents and caregivers swapping stories and bonding over the joys and challenges of child rearing as their little ones dance the afternoon away. If you can’t make an afternoon show, the pub is open to minors until 8:30pm. In the warmer months, enjoy hanging out on the cute outdoor patio behind the pub. The menu has something to offer meat eaters and vegans alike. Although there is no designated kid’s menu, appetizing and healthy options are certainly available such as chickpea fries, quesadillas and chicken strips.
