Alexander’s Tavern is a family friendly spot located just 2 blocks north of the Fells Point waterfront on Thames St.  It’s a great place to stop for some award winning casual fare while sightseeing and people watching in one of Baltimore’s oldest and most historic neighborhoods.  While Fells Point started out as strictly a port environment, the surrounding businesses that once served the locals and port workers eventually grew into a thriving social center.

On the ground level, easily accessible with strollers, you’ll find a spacious dining room separated from the bar area.  On the 2nd floor, less stroller friendly, you’ll find another bar with some limited seating. Up here is where you can enjoy Giant Jenga, darts or shuffle board.  Bathrooms are conveniently located on both levels.

Our server was more than happy to accomodate all the usual kid related requests (“Bring us something to feed them quickly before they burn the place down.”), and was attentive and pleasant throughout.

The kids’ menu will help you out if your little ones tend towards the less adventurous (they’re livin’ that mac-n-cheese life!), but you won’t want to miss menu staples such as Pork Tenderloin, Veggie Gratin, Charm City Fry, and Alexander’s Alfredo. Be sure to save room for desserts like Apple Betty or Brownie a la Mode.

Did I forget to mention the tots?  Alexander’s website won’t forget to remind you as you’ll see at the very top their running Tot Counter (currently a 4,661,014 tater tots sold).

If you’re looking for a place to duck in to escape the rain or if you want to catch the Virginia Tech game (Alexander’s proudly supports the Hokies!) you should keep this place on your short list.

Our work in Baltimore is truly a family affair. Husband and wife, Matt and Katie, work together to head up our ambassador team in Charm City. Katie is a Maryland native and has lived in the state her whole life. She moved to Baltimore in 2007 after graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. She has been working in the field of early childhood education as a teacher and family coach for the past 12 years. Katie also holds a Masters of Education in Literacy from Loyola University. She is passionate about giving kids and families the knowledge and tools that they need to thrive. Matt grew up in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore. As a city native, Matt is a great resource on all that the city has to offer. After months of helping Katie explore the city for her role at a Happy Active Family, he decided to put his love of writing to use and officially come on board as an ambassador. Matt and Katie have two girls, ages 5 and 7. They spend their weekends camping, hiking, or exploring other hidden gems in their area. Tap into their insider knowledge by downloading the app today!
