The Asheville Museum of Science is a hands on science museum located in downtown Asheville. Small but mighty it offers hours of fun for toddlers through elementary aged kids. The large interactive room contains multiple stations to keep kids busy. The "Bird's Nest" is a favorite spot for climbing and getting a bird's eye view of the museum. The river station is a new addition where kids can explore the water cycle and play with various objects to block and re-route the flow to explore how landscapes can change and rivers are utilized. The dinosaur dig allows kids to discover their inner Paleontologist as they sift through sand to uncover different fossils. There is an interactive Solar System hooked up to a touch screen that projects onto the wall, plunging you into your chosen planet or galaxy. And an entire separate room allows your kids to explore and touch different rocks and minerals. A baby/toddler only corner is a safe place for the young crowd to build with blocks, read books, or play with dinosaurs. And there is usually a staff member leading an activity inside as well!

AMOS is one of our favorite rainy or cold day activities and can successfully entertain my 18m old through 2nd grade nanny kiddos for hours. Although it is right in downtown there are multiple pay lots in very close proximity, parking has never been a problem. Clean bathrooms with changing tables are located inside the museum, and the entire building is stroller and handicap accessible.
