The Aspen Trail is a place to enjoy the great outdoors with your whole family.

The Aspen Trail is a family-friendly hike located in Driggs, Idaho. It overlooks the Teton Valley floor, the Big Hole Mountains and fields of farms. The trail is about 4.25 miles each way, totaling 8.5 miles if done as an out-and-back hike. There are two trailheads and you may start from either one. One of them is called Spring Creek which is located at 2150 Rapid Creek Rd, Alta, WY. The other trailhead is on Darby Canyon Road.

This trailhead does not have a specific address, however, it is easy to find. You start by taking E 3000 S in Driggs, ID to S Stateline Road in Driggs, ID until you see signs for Darby Canyon. You will then take a right-hand turn and continue driving until you see the trailhead on the left. Parking can be found alongside the road or by the trailhead. There are no public restrooms close by, so be prepared! Downtown Driggs, ID is about a 15-minute drive from the trailhead and downtown Victor, ID is about 20 a minute drive. Driggs has more accomodations for bathroom breaks, kid-friendly eats, and last-minute necessities.

This trail is not only for hikers! You may see bikers and even horseback riders on the trail, however, it's not recommended for young or beginner bikers. There are a few steep, technical climbs and descents that are quite challenging on a bike. Bright green moss-covered rocks can be seen throughout the trail and alongside the mini waterfalls. There are two river crossings that do not have bridges and can be challenging when water levels are high. They’re very short and add even more excitement to your adventure! My favorite section of the Aspen trail is a flat meadow with Aspen trees spread throughout. This spot is one of the most magical scenes; it feels as if you’re walking in a fairytale. Here, your children can use their imagination to create their own dreamland.

During different seasons, the valley floor is covered in a beautiful array of colors. My favorite is in the spring when dandelions are in full bloom and a deep yellow blanket the green fields. You’ll also be able to see farmer's fields of hay, potatoes, and even quinoa! These views are not seen the whole entire time you’re hiking, as they only peak out when you reach the highest points of the trail. When you're not enjoying the scenic views of the valley, you’re exploring forests of Aspen trees, colorful wildflowers, and sparkly rocks.
