Carlsbad Batiquitos Lagoon

This trail run gives you a little extra dirt under your feet as you run along one of the few remaining tidal wetlands in Southern California. Starting at the nature center, this is an out and back route mostly in sun but you will also have some beautiful tree coverage about 1 mile in. Don’t let the start of this trail near a freeway fool you, less then 1/4 mile into the run you will feel like you’ve run into another area completely. The quiet, glistening waters of the lagoon on your right, trees on your left, houses tucked away so you forget that you’re really running next to suburbia. A little over a mile into the run you’ll see the Hyatt Aviara’s world class golf course, and if you’re not a golfer you may reconsider after this tease of their greens!
End your run at the nature center and allow your little one to explore inside and chat with the friendly volunteers, they love sharing their knowledge of the area!
