Out and back trail with a playground, and picnic area.

Minutes away from the port of Mukilteo is Big Gulch Trail. This out and back trail runs a total length of 2.6 miles. The little ones might be better off in a carrier for parts of the trail with particularly more stairs, but the terrain is kid friendly, and allows you to bring your leashed dog as well. As you hike along the path you'll get views of the river, and see wildlife of all kinds such as hummingbirds, robins, and chipmunks. If you slow enough to look down you’ll spot mushrooms, and wildflowers lining both sides of the route.

This trail is easy to find, free to park, and has both a playground, and accessible clean restroom at the trailheads. There is also plenty of rolling green grass, perfect for picnics, and playing games. You’ll want to remember bug spray, and sunscreen for your time near the river, and dont forget to bring a blanket to lay in the grass after your hike.
