Big Talbot Island State Park is home to a beach filled with black rocks and tree bones.

Big Talbot Island is one of Florida's most unique state parks and is just north of Little Talbot Island. Big Talbot Island is the smaller of the two parks but is best known for Boneyard Beach and its Blackrock beaches. There is a small parking lot available at the trailhead for Blackrock Trail, which is a .5 mile path that leads you to the ocean. South of the trail, you can explore the natural black rocks that look like lava rocks, and north of the trail, you’ll see the fallen trees that have been washed by tides to create the appearance of an elephant graveyard. Be sure to bring your cameras, as this beach is a photographer's dream. Spend time wandering the beach, climbing around the trees, and taking in the very desolate and unique look of this state park. Be sure to check the tides before you go as a high tide can make the beach inaccessible.

The parking lot available at the trailhead is small and fills up quickly on nice days. It costs $3 cash to park and uses an honor system to pay. There are no restrooms available here.
