Biking or hiking with the kids at Mike Harris Park.

As I was beginning to challenge myself more and improve my mountain biking skills, I started seeking longer trails with more technical ascents and descents. I began exploring more of Teton Valley and came across Nemo. It’s right across from Rush Hour in the Mike Harris Park. The trail is about 4 miles out and back. Nemo begins with a few switchbacks that are great for strengthening your climbing abilities. There are new editions on the trail this season such as a few switchbacks, rock jumps, bigger berms, mini jumps and log rides. The features are optional and can be hit with low speeds. There is one log that is mandatory to bike over, but can of course be walked if necessary. Want to spice things up? Try and bunny hop over this log, found near the end of Nemo!

Nemo connects to two other trails if you wish to extend your ride. One trail is named Lady Slipper and the other is named Grumpy’s. Lady Slipper is about 5 miles if done as an out and back. When I do this trail I normally go to the BPA power line and turn around instead of biking to the Pole Canyon trailhead. Lady Slipper is a wide, fun, and flowy downhill trail that isn’t steep or technical to climb back up. It has a few berm turns, along with mini jumps and rocks that are optional. If you’re looking for a trail that will put a smile on your face, this is it!

Grumpy’s is about a 2-mile loop with a bit of a challenging technical climb. It also has a fun, long downhill. Grumpy’s is shorter than Lady Slipper but is more challenging due to it being singletrack, having a lot of roots, and being steeper. It’s worth the challenge though! To find this trail, you will cross the powerline trail that is right after you exit Nemo and enter the single track. You’ll come to the junction where Lady Slipper begins, go right towards Grumpy’s. You’ll then come across another fork, go right again otherwise, you’ll be doing A LOT more challenging climbs than intended!

With whatever trails you choose to do, once you bike back to your car at the trailhead for Nemo, you can find a creek to splash cold water on your face. There are currently no public restrooms, however, downtown Victor is not far from the trailhead. On your way to downtown, there’s a brewery with a food truck. You can stop there to relax or continue into town. Victor has multiple food options including the infamous Huckleberry Shake from the Emporium! Re-fuel at one of the spots in town and then continue on your fun-filled adventures.
