Boatyard is a popular Annapolis spot with ambiance for days!

The Boatyard Bar & Grill in Annapolis is easy to like.  It’s everything you’d want in a dockside restaurant and more.  We decided to visit the Boatyard after conducting an impromptu survey of moms on a nearby playground who unanimously recommended it as the best place to take the kids for lunch.  It did not disappoint.

The Boatyard has been serving delicious seafood in a nautical-themed atmosphere since 2001 and they are committed to backing up the locals’ claims that this is the place for a great meal with your family.  Finding accolades for their crab cake isn’t tough, just check all the major local magazines and papers (Baltimore Sun, Baltimore Magazine, Travel Channel, etc) and you’ll find them listed among best. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive despite being pretty busy during a beautiful Saturday lunch rush.  (If the wait is long and you’ve got an extra adult, take the kids to Turner Park. It’s a small, quiet playground about 5 blocks from the restaurant)

A review of their website showed they’re also especially sensitive to the Chesapeake Bay’s environmental status.  We were thrilled to see them detail their recycling and green-based business practices as well as their close partnership with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and other groups that support the health and importance of the local environment.

Our trip was on the tail end of our day in Annapolis so we opted to drive from the downtown City Dock area instead of walking, but fresh legs could easily manage if you don’t feel like moving your car.  There’s a small parking lot on site but street parking is available as is hourly parking at the marina parking lot across the street.

We like to soak up the local culture when visiting places and this was the perfect way to do just that when day tripping in Annapolis.  Make sure to pay the Boatyard a visit if you’re near the City Dock and see what all the hype is about.
