Boiling River in Yellowstone
N Entrance Road, Yellowstone National Park
Stop by this amazing natural phenomenon after checking out Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone!
Located five minutes North of Mammoth Hot Spring.
This very interesting and fun 1 mile (ish) hike, round trip excursion, along a mostly flat path next to the river the entire time was perfect for a family hike and swim/soak. This Yellowstone favorite has about a 100 yard stretch of hot spring access (clearly marked). The water entering the river is very warm (important to have parents check before little kids because it can be startling if one is not prepared for the temperature difference). I loved the cold part because it was an 80 degree, sunny day. My husband and daughter spent time in the warmer area mixing the two temperatures. We enjoyed both and the completely relaxing environment and views.
We suggest visiting Mammoth Hot Springs before for a walk or longer hike to optimize the enjoyment of where the water comes from and the chance to ‘earn’ your soak and relax time.
No alcohol. No skinny dipping. Closed during springtime due to runoff.
