When I heard there was a rock climbing studio in Brooklyn, I didn't know what to expect. I'd seen small rock climbing walls at some of the larger trampoline parks throughout the years and assumed it was just like that. Boy, was I wrong. Brooklyn Boulders is the real deal. It boasts over 20,000 square feet of climbing walls and experienced instructors to help out along the way.

When I was there on a recent weekday morning, I saw a few parents who were climbing and had brought along their young toddlers who were all just playing together. The staff explained that the gym is very child-friendly, but only children over age 5 are allowed to climb. Based on your experience, they encourage everyone to take an Intro to Climbing class and can tailor it to your age and skill level.

If you're an active sort and enjoy climbing, or have always wanted to try it, I encourage you to check out Brooklyn Boulders for what appears to be a very friendly and accomodating atmosphere. And in these cold Brooklyn winters, I can't imagine anything better than getting some exercise alongside my kids!
