Burlington Campground is a campsite located in Humboldt Redwoods State Park.
Burlington Campground is open year round and is centrally located next to the Humboldt Redwoods State Park Visitor's Center on the Avenue of the Giants (the scenic byway to Highway 101) about 2 miles south of the town of Weott in California. The campground offers 57 campsites in old-growth and second-growth redwoods. Across the street is a short nature trail that leads to the Eel River where there is stone skipping, swimming, fishing and fun.
Each campsite has a picnic table and fire ring. Firewood is available to purchase at the ranger station for $6.00 per bundle. There are multiple flush toilets and individual coin-operated showers. You will need quarters to operate the showers. There is electricity in the bathrooms and you can wash dishes at the outdoor sink. Each campsite has a bear box to store all food and toiletries.
Summers offer interpretive activities, such as nature walks, bird watching, and Junior Ranger programming. Our family favorite campfire program is offered nightly. Come sing camp songs and learn about camping and the redwoods from the rangers. Dogs are allowed in the campsite and at the Eel River but cannot be left unattended and are not allowed on any trails within Humboldt Redwoods State Park. Late summer brings blue-green algae blooms that can be fatally toxic to dogs.
Each developed family camp site can accommodate up to 8 people and a varying number of vehicles, depending on the size of the site. The campgrounds do not offer sites for RVs over 24 feet in length and trailers over 24 feet in length. Specific information on each camp site, such as the amount of sun or shade and the number or size of vehicles that will fit, can be found on the Reserve America web site. Reservations include one vehicle. Extra vehicle fees will be paid upon arrival to the park. ADA camp sites may only be occupied by a camper with a disabled license plate or disabled placard for their vehicle. Reservations for ADA sites will not be honored without proof of eligibility.
Go to www.reservecalifornia.com to book your specific campsite or call (800) 444-PARK (7275). Reservations cannot be made at the park and book up in the summer. So, plan your trip ahead and checkout the campground map for where you might want to pitch your tent or park your RV for the night. Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance or up to 48 hours before your arrival. Camp sites that are not reserved ahead of time are available on a first-come, first-served basis but for only one night at a time. Watch out for some poison oak within the campground and park. "If it's got leaves of three, let it be!"
