Local park and playground along MacArthur Boulevard in Cabin John.

A large parking lot sits above this play area, which is located down a set of stone steps so there is a safe separation if you happen to have unpredictable little runners. There are tennis courts, basketball and other athletic fields set off to the side, and there is also an entrance to the popular Cabin John Trail right behind the playground. The playground structure itself is suitable for a range of ages, and at the time we visited it proved a very social spot. It wasn't overly busy, but everyone was really friendly. 

The playground has infant and regular swings and ample space to run and play. There are also picnic tables and a shelter to relax at before or after you hit the trail. There is a wooded area behind the park, so at certain times of day, there is some degree of shade available. There is quite a bit of elevation to traverse up and down from the trail entrance, and while a stroller isn't out of the question, I recommend a baby carrier.

The park is about a ten-minute drive from Matchbox and Moby Dick House of Kabobs' Bethesda locations! Both restaurants are great places to pick up a picnic to bring to the park on a nice afternoon. There is also the unique Glen Echo Park a few minutes up the street, which is definitely worth a visit. It's a glimpse back in time since it is on the grounds of an early 20th Century amusement park and there is a playground, a carousel and many other cool buildings and kid-friendly activities.
