Hike, Bike, Walk, or Snow-Shoe Outdoors with your Family!
Cache Creek is probably the most accessible trail system in the entire Teton County area and is great for the whole family. No matter your age or interest, you'll find something to do here while taking in the breathtaking scenery. With smooth, well-maintained trails, it's frequented by locals and visitors almost constantly. Snowshoeing, dog walking, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, sunset watching, stroller walking – here, the possibilities are endless. We love seeing so many happy people embracing nature and enjoying all that Jackson has to offer.
You'll find a mix of beautiful trails ranging from easy with a minimal incline to thoroughly challenging. Depending on your family's desires and the weather, you can spend 20 minutes to eight hours weaving your way through the grassy wildflower-filled fields.
One of our favorite loops for wintertime is Hagen to Sidewalk. You begin at the Cache Creek TH on the Snow King side of the road and follow the Hagen Trail to the left (walking away from town). Along the way, you'll encounter very little elevation change. Eventually, you will reach an opportunity to cross the road onto the Cache Creekside where you will head back towards town on the Sidewalk trail. This hike should take less than an hour but is a great length for young children when the snow makes the terrain a little more challenging.
During the summer, when the trails are dry, if you want to extend this hike and make it a little more challenging and scenic, I recommend walking from Sidewalk to Putt-Putt from the Cache Creek TH, or beginning at the Nelson TH and taking either of the trails about 20 minutes up to a nice grassy knoll overlooking the town. It's Jackson's best picnic spot!
