Calico is one of those places that took me awhile to get to simply because I'm very much inclined to stay within a mile radius of my house.  After years of hearing my freinds rave about how delicious the food was and how wonderful the environment, I decided I had to give it a shot.  We made reservations due to it's popularity and chose to drive even though taking the bus or bike path directly there is an option.  Upon arrival, we were immediately obsessed with the lush greenery and gorgeous landscaping.  A timeless covered wooden wrap around deck circled to the open backyard.  Tables lined the entire thing and children ran around playing lawn games as parents enjoyed their wine and cocktails.  We chose to sit inside of the restaurant and found it to be warm and inviting but with a certain level of sophistication.  We ordered a bottle of wine and were suprised by how affordable the options were compared to some other places in town.  We were told the app game was incredibly strong here and the Bruschetta was a non negotiable must try.  It did not disapoint!  The Poke Bowl was also delicious!  For an entree I went for the highly reccomended Eggplant Parm and loved their take on the traditional dish.  In terms of kids, the menu has wonderful options and everything is $3.50!  There is also an indoor bar as well.

Emily Coleman is a Jersey girl born and raised who caught the outdoor bug upon moving to Vermont to pursue a degree in Adventure Education and Environmental Studies from Green Mountain College. She spent most of her years before college deeply entrenched in the world of competitive cheerleading before discovering a passion for outdoor sports including mountain biking, white water kayaking, bikepacking, backpacking, slacklining, rock climbing, and skiing. Having been surrounded by children her entire life in her mother's daycare, she always had a strong affinity for kids. She moved to the mountains of Jackson Hole after graduating to coach for the local Kayak Club during the summers and nanny in the winters. Becoming a part of the Happy Active Family team felt like the perfect collision of her passion for building strong community bonds and encouraging an outdoor lifestyle.
