Canal Park Brewing is an essential stop for locals and out of town visitors in Duluth.

This has always been our favorite restaurant to check out each time we end up in Duluth. The food, the service, and the ambiance are always top-notch. 

Located right on Lake Superior, the back patio space overlooking the largest freshwater lake in the world is absolutely stunning any time of the day during the warmer months. They often have 'cornhole' set up along the patio for guests to play. It is a perfect way to pass the time while waiting for a table. I also recommend that you grab a beer from the bar while waiting. 

The food here is always delicious. The appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and entrees are all great. They make a fantastic homemade beer cheese soup that is wonderful alone, or in any of the entrees it's also used in nachos, macaroni and cheese, and pretzels. Kids meals are made in great portions and come with a choice of fries or fruit. My kids chose root beer as the drink to accompany the meal, and to my surprise it was a Spring Grove Soda, crafted by a local Minnesota soda maker. Very cool! I love seeing small businesses supporting other small businesses. 

I opted for a Bloody Mary this visit. It came with a beer chaser of the Hank and Dabs, a beer brewed on-site. The restaruant really strives to use local and sustainable crops when brewing beer here. 

This is such a fantastic, locally-owned restaurant. I highly recommend it! After lunch or supper head down to the Lake Superior Marine Museum to read up on the history of the area.
