An impressive and conveniently located park and playground in Denver.

Located on the historic grounds of Denver’s former Stapleton International Airport, Central Park and is Denver’s third-largest playground, offering 80 acres of family fun.  We first learned of Central Park when my family attended a baby shower held at the Central Park Pavilion, an industrial-style building (with air conditioning and bathroom) that can be rented for private events.  The Pavilion boasts views of the foothills and the air traffic control tower from the old Stapleton airport, (now a prominent feature of Punch Bowl Social, a trendy bar/restaurant), and is conveniently located adjacent to the park’s play fountain and whimsical playground.  Needless to say, my two-year-old was in her element!

The play fountain is definitely a crowd favorite.  On a 90+ degree summer day in late July, the play fountain was packed with children of all ages frolicking through the fountain’s playful geysers. The play fountain consists of nearly one hundred spouts shooting water high into the sky, at varying heights and intervals, like a joyful summer’s dance (or a scaled-down version of the Bellagio’s dancing fountain in Las Vegas).  The play fountain is an inexpensive and easy way to beat that summer heat within Denver’s city limits.  

The next stop on our Central Park adventure was the playground.  The playground is impressive, to say the least. It features a child-friend bouldering area and whimsical natural features that look like something out of your favorite Dr. Seuss illustration.  With nearly an acre of real estate, kiddos can really roam free exploring this incredible playground. We will definitely be back soon to explore the rest of the park!
