Charles River Esplanade Playground is a unique play space next to the Charles River, with a two-story rope climbing structure and a slide, a hammock, and a rope bridge.

The playground has a lot to offer and much of the design is unique. In addition to the extremely tall slide, and the unique hammock and rope bridge there is also a large rock climbing structure and wooden poles for climbing. There is a zip line, a multi-person swing, and a twirling seat. The kids found this playground intriguing right from the start and didn't want to leave!

A path – perfect for running, biking, scooters, and strollers – runs along the park too, and shaded picnic tables are available when you or the kids are in need of a seat, some shade or just a place to enjoy a picnic lunch. A water fountain and a Little Free Library can be found there too, which is a fun little bonus!

You will need to take a footbridge to access this playground and the closest one is Arthur Fiedler Footbridge. This playground is also located right next to the Hatch Shell, which has bathrooms and plenty of events throughout the summer.

The Head of Accounting and Boston Ambassador, Jenny has been living in Boston for almost 10 years. Before Boston, she lived in Washington, DC for 8 years, and previous to that grew up on Long Island, NY. Along the way, she spent a few months in Amsterdam with her family biking all around and exploring that beautiful city! Jenny has always enjoyed being active - from organized sports to jogging, and of course, being in the garden as much as possible when the weather is cooperative. She tries to include her children in all of her active hobbies. With two toddler boys, ages 3 and 5, she and her husband spend their time discovering new places and things to do in the New England area. Spending time outdoors in all types of weather and encouraging her children to love all seasons is very important to her - and so is helping and encouraging others to do the same. Jenny and her family love spending time at the beach, traveling, taking walks and hikes, and of course, finding new playgrounds!
