Experience Charleston in an old-fashioned way, jump on a horse and buggy!
We were looking for a way to get a feel for Charleston and tried out the horse carriage tour! Our carriage held 16 people and was pulled by "Hot Rod," a beautiful horse that pulled us around the historic district for an hour. The experience gave us a well-rounded history of the town and great views of the lovely architecture.
We were a little concerned about the attention spans of our girls (5 and 3 years old) but they loved being in the carriage and did just fine. The tour was interesting, informative, and really lovely - props to our charming and funny guide. Please be aware you aren't guaranteed a specific route - it's literally a lottery to ensure there's not a backlog of horses.
The fun adventure is a great intro to Charleston and a very pleasant way to spend an afternoon with the family outdoors. The carriage is covered, but depending on the time of day, you might get hit with sun or rain - so be prepared.
