Enormous Playground Areas with Skate Parks and TONS of Extras.
I wouldn't say we typically have "destination" playground spots, but Charlie Daniels Park is one of those you should drive to and check out. We live 30 minutes away and we'll be coming back. It's totally overwhelming - in a good way! There are multiple play areas, tons of slides, and climbing features. There are areas for kids of all ages and parts of it are "all-access" so that everyone can play. For the smallest children, a play area is nicely shaded with a tarp.
In addition to the playgrounds (and I mean multiple!!!), there is a splash pad that looks like it would be great for the warmer months, a skate park with ramps (wish we had brought our scooters!), multiple tennis courts, a basketball court, and a volleyball court. If that is not enough, there are two "little free libraries", a paved walking path, multiple pavilions, benches, and picnic tables. There's a community center too.
And there's more: a lovely hand-painted caboose dedicated to the park's namesake: Charlie Daniels.
