The Chicago Lakefront Trail is a popular trail that takes you through beautiful cityscapes and scenery.
The Chicago Lakefront Trail is a beautiful 18.5 mile trail that runs from 7100 South/2560 East to 5800 North/1000 West and passes through at least thirteen lakefront neighborhoods (Edgewater, Uptown, Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Old Town, Gold Coast, Streeterville, Loop, South Loop, Bronzeville, Kenwood, Hyde Park and South Shore) and four parks (Lincoln Park, Grant Park, Burnham Park, and Jackson Park). It’s super scenic with magnificent lake views and gorgeous cityscapes. Primarily used for walking, jogging, and cycling, it’s super popular in the warmer months.
Tourist attractions and points of interest are numerous along the path, including (listed from south to north) South Shore Cultural Center, the Museum of Science and Industry, McCormick Place, Soldier Field, Chicago's Museum Campus, Monroe Harbor, Navy Pier, Belmont Harbor, and the Waveland Clock Tower.
My daughter and I walked from the Lincoln Park Zoo to the trail, and, in this section there are several park benches along the path, and there are tons of shady spots. My daughter had a ton of fun chasing a HUGE flock of seagulls and geese, and we even got quite close to a mother duck and her six ducklings.
We then walked on to North Avenue Beach, which has a really special view. If you walk along the jetty a bit you can see miles of the shoreline in both directions.
