When I first arrived at City Park, I was confused because I didn’t see the playground I expected to see, only a large, green, grassy lawn and a covered picnic area or two lingering about.  As I started to walk to the left, I realized there was a massive skatepark right in front of my face. We’ve written a separate article about it, as it was worthy of its own. Continuing my travels left down the path, I came upon an interactive, musical instrument type installment made entirely out of recycled or natural materials.  It was so cool and the perfect place for toddlers to experiment with sounds and music.

On the other side of the street, there was a slacklining park with beams in the ground to allow for eco-friendly slacklining.  Traveling to the right down the bike path, I came upon the volleyball court, basketball court, playground, football field, and baseball diamond I’d heard about.  The playground was full of children and it had tons of features for both young children and older children. City Park has something for everyone, from toddler to adult.

Main Street is right around the corner as well with endless dining options.

Emily Coleman
Emily Coleman is a Jersey girl born and raised who caught the outdoor bug upon moving to Vermont to pursue a degree in Adventure Education and Environmental Studies from Green Mountain College. She spent most of her years before college deeply entrenched in the world of competitive cheerleading before discovering a passion for outdoor sports including mountain biking, white water kayaking, bikepacking, backpacking, slacklining, rock climbing, and skiing. Having been surrounded by children her entire life in her mother's daycare, she always had a strong affinity for kids. She moved to the mountains of Jackson Hole after graduating to coach for the local Kayak Club during the summers and nanny in the winters. Becoming a part of the Happy Active Family team felt like the perfect collision of her passion for building strong community bonds and encouraging an outdoor lifestyle.
