Hike and explore kid-friendly Craggy Gardens!
The Craggy Gardens are located on the Blue Ridge Parkway at mile marker 364 about 45 mins from Asheville. You will see a large parking area and visitor center on the left side of the road. Park here to explore the visitor center (open late May-October), use the restroom, and begin your hike. Departing from the South side of the parking lot it is an easy .3 miles to the picnic shelter and the Craggy Flats. This is one of the best places to see the Rhododendron blooms in early summer, and the Flats have awesome spur trails with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Kids love exploring the wide open fields, picking blueberries, and having a picnic under the trees.
Please note the address on the map is the Blue Ridge Visitor Center in Asheville. The hike doesn’t have an address but the mile marker is noted above.
