Craggy Pinnacle is a kid-friendly hike with beautiful views!
The Craggy Pinnacle hike is located just past the Craggy Garden Visitor Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway, mile marker 364 about 45 mins from Asheville. The parking area will be a left turn immediately after the tunnel. Departing from the trailhead you will climb .7 miles to the summit of Craggy Pinnacle. Breathtaking 360 degree views greet you, along with many benches to take them in.
A moderate trail, although steep in parts, it is one of our favorite quick hikes with kids. The summit is walled in with stones which makes it an awesome spot to put our toddler down without any worry. He can climb and explore safely which is always a plus for the littles! The terrain in this area is amazing. Roots and boulders line the path, and trees twist and turn out of rocks along the trail. Rhododendron blooms are plentiful in the summer time, and blueberries can be found in late summer and early fall.
Parking is ample and bathrooms are conveniently located at the visitor center on the other side of the tunnel. This is a hike that smaller kids can complete on their own, but I definitely would bring a carrier for toddlers.
Please note the address on the map is the Blue Ridge Visitor Center in Asheville. The hike doesn’t have an address but the mile marker is noted above.
