Crash Boat Beach is a popular family-friendly beach!

As one of the most popular beaches in western Puerto Rico, Crash Boat Beach will certainly be a hit for everyone in the family. In fact, you can easily spend a full day (or more) here.

The beach offers nice, sandy shores, while the waters are warm and relatively shallow. Certainly, your whole family will enjoy swimming and snorkeling here (be sure to bring your own gear). To the left of the pier, waters are a tad calmer and may be better suited for toddlers. To the right of the pier, expect large waves (especially in the afternoon), which are fun for older kids who enjoy jumping in the waves! Be sure to walk down the pier as well, if you're lucky, you'll find a crab or two scuttling along. Plus, local kids enjoy jumping off the pier on sunny days.

One of the best parts of Crash Boat Beach for families are the ample beachside vendors, including food, drinks, and trinkets. Vendors change from day to day, but you can typically expect everything from pizza, pastelillos (like empanadas), and pinchos (meat kabobs) to coco frio (fresh coconut water), ice cream, and tropical drinks (non-alcoholic and alcoholic). Plus, there are often vendors renting things like beach loungers and umbrellas (great for the strong sun!). You can usually find someone selling beach toys too. 

Remember to bring cash, but Venmo and PayPal are also widely accepted. The sun in Puerto Rico is much stronger than in most of the United States, be prepared to bring ample sunscreen and apply it multiple times throughout the day.
