A large market-style eatery with restaurants to suit the whole family.

Cross Street Market is a bit of a Baltimore institution.  It’s been operating as a market in one form or another since 1845 in the Federal Hill area of South Baltimore.  The market houses about 22 independently owned and operated franchises such as Annoula’s Greek Kitchen, Atlas Fish Market, Bullhead Pit Beef, Cans Filling Station, Ceremony Coffee, Fenwick’s Choice Meats, Gangster Vegan, Old Line Cocktail & Wine Bar, One Poke, Pizza Di Joey, Royal Farms Chicken, Southside Burger Bar, Taco Love Grill just to name a few.  Their website provides a complete list along with descriptions of each vendor’s offerings.

The Market is central to Federal Hill so if you’re looking to explore you’ll find no shortage of stopping points nearby.  Federal Hill Park, M & T Bank Stadium, the Inner Harbor and tons of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes line the streets of the surrounding area.

Cross Street Farmers Market is a fun seasonal pop up you can find from mid-May through the end of October on Saturdays from 9 am – 12 pm on the south side of the Market.  The Farmers Market showcases local offerings from many of the surrounding area’s local farms, dairies, butchers, etc, and is a great way to support local business and agriculture.

The walkways throughout the market are easy to navigate on foot, by wheelchair or with a stroller in tow.  The bathrooms were clean and well maintained.  Limited seating is available at the vendor’s stalls as well as at tables and chairs throughout the market and just outside where everyone can meet up after finding whatever suits them.  Highchairs and booster seats are available as well.

Parking is available nearby at the West Street Garage (40 E West St) and there’s also plentiful metered street parking on E Cross St, Light Street and S Charles St.  Public transportation options abound via CityLink’s Silver Line and from MARC train’s Camden Station which is less than a mile away.

Our work in Baltimore is truly a family affair. Husband and wife, Matt and Katie, work together to head up our ambassador team in Charm City. Katie is a Maryland native and has lived in the state her whole life. She moved to Baltimore in 2007 after graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. She has been working in the field of early childhood education as a teacher and family coach for the past 12 years. Katie also holds a Masters of Education in Literacy from Loyola University. She is passionate about giving kids and families the knowledge and tools that they need to thrive. Matt grew up in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore. As a city native, Matt is a great resource on all that the city has to offer. After months of helping Katie explore the city for her role at a Happy Active Family, he decided to put his love of writing to use and officially come on board as an ambassador. Matt and Katie have two girls, ages 5 and 7. They spend their weekends camping, hiking, or exploring other hidden gems in their area. Tap into their insider knowledge by downloading the app today!
