The splash park at Cumberland Park near Downtown – right off the Cumberland river, next to Nissan stadium – is a fun way to spend a couple hours splashing around in the variety of fountains and jets.I recommend getting there early as it can get crowded and shade (for adults) is limited (kind of like stadium seating – see pics!).
There’s not a ton of shade in the actual water area so bring hats and sunscreen galore. In addition to the water area, the park houses a sandpit, a climbing wall, and slides. It’s certainly a fun and enjoyable (and free!) way to spend a morning or afternoon. Though, note, correlating with summer months, the splash part is open Memorial Day through Labor Day.
If you're looking to make a day of it, walk across the pedestrian bridge to explore Downtown.
