Curtis Campground is an awesome, easily accessible, and beautiful campground about five miles outside of Jackson past the Elk Refuge. It's a great place to take your kids to have some fun in nature while bonding in the midst of Jackson's majestic wildlife and scenery. Despite its close distance, it takes roughly 30 to 45 minutes to reach a campsite due to road conditions and depending on whether you want to camp in the trees at the organized site (with bathrooms and running water) or at a primitive site, with spectacular wildflowers and Teton views.
We suggest getting there early to get a spot. We arrived at 10 am and enjoyed spot #9 and an incredible day outside with room to spread out, take our time with setting up, and to relax in a spectacular way.
We suggest getting creative with s’mores, books, and family-fun games to maximize the serene setting and keep kiddos happy. Also, it can get really cold at night so dress and pack appropriately, layers are your friend.
The roads are really rustic. Patience paired with an SUV or pickup truck will prove worthwhile. Though possible, it’s probably not an ideal path for minivans or low riding cars. It’s a very bumpy ride!
