Deep Eddy delivers a truly memorable experience packed with a long storied history.

Built during the Depression, Deep Eddy doesn’t just provide salvation from the summer sun, it's also one of the city’s most beloved landmarks. It is known as the oldest swimming pool in the entire state of Texas! Established in 1915, the freshwater, 600,000-gallon concrete pool began as a swimming hole along the Colorado River, which still runs along the side of Deep Eddy. These days, the pool, which is open year-round, provides a slightly calmer atmosphere than the more popular Barton Springs. But unlike the Springs craggy lake meets pool feel, you'll be amazed to see that Deep Eddy is the spitting image of a perfect swimming pool.

Lifeguards can be found on deck, and often play with the younger children. Restrooms are available on the premises. The water is cleaned and replaced daily, and the deck is surrounded by grass and trees – perfect for throwing down a blanket and reading a book while older kids play pool games or cool off in the water. Teens and older kids will be drawn to the chilly water and the cool-kid environment, while younger swimmers will be enchanted by the large wading pool which is an ideal setup.

This is a very popular spot, especially on hot days, so plan accordingly for crowds and pack a lunch to eat! People of all ages absolutely love this classic Austin spot!

Note: Some mornings have devoted lap swim, so it's best to check the website for the most up-to-date hours of availability before heading there.
