Delaware Canal State Park in Pennsylvania

While taking an anniversary drive along the Delaware River the other day I stumbled upon Delaware Canal State Park and I thought, this is a perfect place to bring the grandkids. We pulled into a lovely parking lot with restrooms and picnic tables. The towpath, where mules once pulled boats along the canal, runs between the canal and the Delaware River. The path is flat and easily navigated on foot, with a stroller or on a bicycle. In winter the path may be used for cross country skiing. Sixty miles of trail run between Easton and Bristol, Pennsylvania with many opportunities to cross into New Jersey and loop along an old railway trail back into PA.

Frenchtown and Milford offer a variety of dining options although many picnic areas line the trail as well. This Park is suitable for a day trip or a weekend adventure, because although camping is not permitted at this location, many nearby State Parks offer tent, cabin or RV camp sites. Delaware Canal State Park is a place of incredible natural beauty, and we hope you will give it a try.
