A fun little park with lots to do.

Located in Wesley Chapel, Dogwood Park is a popular place to hang out amongst the locals. This 22.5-acre park includes paved and unpaved trails, a playground, picnic and grilling sites, a handicapped-accessible fishing pier, a dog park, a Little Free Library, geocaching, an amphitheater, and portable restrooms. The playground area is fully fenced in with only one entrance into the area. This is great for those children who like to venture off. The playground features two play structures, one for the older kids and one for younger children, a rope carousel, and swings. The big play structure has several slides, ways to climb up, monkey bars, and stairs. The smaller play structure has slides, several ways to climb, pretend play areas, and steering wheels. The swing set has two regular swings and two baby swings. The favorite thing on the playground was the rope carousel, which all the kids worked together to spin. The ground is made of poured-in rubber so it is soft and bouncy. Mature trees around the playground make the area nice and shady in spots. In the summer this will help keep the area cool.

The trails are mostly shaded and are mostly paved with a few areas of unpaved natural surface. The trail is just a little over a mile and great for strollers, bikes, or scooters. Many dogs walk the path because at the back of the park is a dog park. Don’t forget dog safety with your children.

All around the park are picnic areas as well as grills set up. These are perfect for a gathering with friends. It was nice to see people out reading or gathering to study or work outside. You can rent certain spaces to be guaranteed a spot, but it is also a first-come-first-serve type basis. Behind the amphitheater is a small lake where you can go out onto a floating dock. They do allow fishing but note that if you want to fish, you will need an NC fishing license.

This place is worth coming to and checking out. Spend the day or come for an hour; you won’t be disappointed.
