Fully engage with nature in 237 acres of beauty.

The Durant Nature Preserve takes full opportunity of all of its surrounding outdoor adventures. Not only does it include 5 miles of hiking and biking trails, a playground and a lake for fishing, the preserve is also home to a handful of unique gardens. All accessible from the north entrance, patrons can visit the Bird Garden, Butterfly Garden and the Sensory and Nature Play Garden. Each provides viewing of the animals and plants in their natural habitat and are a great way for kids to experience natural play.

The sensory garden also features “fairy home building,” toad houses, a rock garden and more to involve everyone who comes through. If your family is looking for a relaxing hike there is an interpretive tree trail that’s great for kids with the option to check out a “discovery backpack” at the park office before you set off. The backpack is full of activities related to nature art, insects, birds and more of the natural wildlife you may see along your adventure. This is a great place to incorporate nature in a full day of fun.
