Explore this Lesser-Known Section of Edwin Warner - a Play Structure and the Lodge!

One of my favorite things about Edwin Warner Park is that it’s so big you can always find new spots.....like this small play area and the lodge (our first time there was this past weekend - though we’ve been to the park tons we never knew it was there!).

It's the perfect area to make our home base - plan to play a while at the playground, walk over to the huge green field, and then head up to the lodge and eat at one of the picnic tables on the deck for lunch.

The Playground

The playground is simple and small, but it has 6 swings (including two for differently-abled kids) as well as a huge climbing structure which was a big hit for my crew.  It is located right near Shelter 4.

The Field

There is a huge field just up the road from the playground and it has gorgeous trees and a huge grassy area.  It’s a great spot for a hammock or frisbee.

The River

There is a great bend of the Harpeth River, right near Park Shelter 5.  It’s fun for hammocks and exploration!

The Lodge

We loaded up from the playground and headed to the lodge by continuing on and parking our car on the right side of the road, just past Park Shelter 4 (on the right) and Park Shelter 5 (which is on the left).  You’ll park on a road that is blocked off on the right, but you will see the lodge in the distance.  We only used the outside of the lodge for a picnic – the interior was locked.  We also took advantage of the port-a-pots there.

Per the Parks website, the Lodge is available to scout, church, and school groups year-round for day and overnight use. The Board of Parks and Recreation has priority in scheduling programs and events, some recurring annually, in all parks and facilities. Other organizations wanting to reserve the Lodge are considered on a case-by-case basis. For more information, contact Cammie Claybrook at 615-370-8051.
