We really enjoyed Firemen's Park, and thought it had just the right mix of space, great location, and fun activities.

This park and playground was great. This isn't a huge park by any means, but it has a great location and sits right on the lake. It has fun seasonal activities, like a full concessions stand in the summer, a beach, swimming, and lakefront fun. In the winter, it has a plowed and maintained outdoor ice skating loop on the lake, as well as a warming house (yes, the warming house is a super important amenity for outdoor skating in Minnesota). There's also a fishing dock for fishing in the summertime months, and a super fun splash pad for littles. As an added bonus, there is also a picnic shelter you may rent if you like, and plenty of picnic tables for use. There are restrooms here, and also drinking fountains.

The girls really had fun here, despite the fact that we didn't bring skates. I actually had no idea there was a lovely skating rink on the lake here. Next time I'll definitely bring our skates! Another interesting note about this park is that it sits next to an indoor curling club. If you're not familiar with curling, it's a really popular sport in Canada, and snowy, cold places in the US, including Minnesota. It's actually really fun to watch, so I recommend trying to watch a bit if there's a match going on at the curling club when you're in town. Curling consists of people sliding huge stones across the ice, in order to score points by landing in a certain area on the ice.

The girls loved the spinning tree at this playground, twisty slides, and climbing structures. We definitely had a good time! After you're tired out, head over to Red Bench Bakery for a bite to eat.
