A less trafficked stop on your Yellowstone adventures!
If you are headed to Grand Prismatic Springs or Old Faithful and you are driving from the west entrance of Yellowstone, Fountain Paint Pot is worth a stop and easy to experience with the whole family. You'll see a lot in about half a mile which will take only about 15 minutes. We hiked in a counter-clockwise position (as did most people). There are geysers and stunning aquamarine pools and other geothermic wonders all to be seen from the ease of a well-kept, wide wooden boardwalk. It's a less crowded stop than it's more well known and popular neighbors, but can still have lots of visitors during the summertime. We even saw a bison in the middle of the loop!
Note: Stay on the boardwalk and do not touch any hydrothermal features (or throw anything in).
Tip: Clean bathrooms in the parking lot.
