When old meets the new - a restored old farm converted to a beautiful family-friendly park.

Located in Concord, Frank Liske Park has something for the whole family. With playgrounds, walking trails with fitness stations, tennis courts, softball and soccer fields, sand volleyball, mini-golf, a lake with fishing and paddle boats, horseshoe pits, and plenty of picnic sites, this park will keep you coming back for more. The various walking trails are natural surfaces with gravel and are easy enough for a jogging stroller to be pushed around. The jogging trail is just under 2 miles and goes around the whole park. A nature trail is just under a mile and perfect for the little ones to get their feet wet in hiking. The fitness trail is around .53 miles and has various exercise stations along the path. There is an ADA-covered fitness area near the tennis courts. There are four playgrounds to visit in the park. The far western park also has a nature-inspired play space and a fully covered playground. The playground near the lake is smaller but is fully covered and has swings and is near a sandpit. The playground just north of the barn is fully covered and is considered the toddler playground on the map. As of 02/17/2021, they had the area near the barn and other playgrounds closed off. It is possible some renovations were underway.

The lake offers several activities including paddle boats, fishing, and a walking path that goes all the way around it. Several species of birds were at the lake along with some ducks to feed. The park has coin-operated feeder stations, so please use that to feed them. Bread, chips, and other junk food are harmful to the birds and can cause algae blooms in the lake. If you want to bring food to feed the ducks, consider thawed frozen peas, lettuce, or cut grapes instead. The paddle boats operate from April to October on the weekends from 11 am to 6 pm. Miniature golf is open from April to October, Monday - Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm, and on the weekends from 11 am to 6 pm with a fee of $2 per person (children 5 and under are free with each paying adult).

There is some fascinating history in this park. Frank Liske is a 238-acre park and was the former working farm for the Stonewall Jackson Training School. The land was later leased to the County for development, and the park was named in honor of the man who worked for Stonewall Jackson Training school for 48 years, Frank Liske. He played a major part in acquiring the land for lease from the state. Bits of history can be found at the park including the refurbished dairy barn and silo. The barn, including the enclosed heated and air-conditioned upper level,  is popular for hosting gatherings. The barn also serves as a home base for the camps that host around 650 kids each summer. Other camps such as sports camps, nature camps, classes, workshops, tennis classes, road races and various community events are done throughout the year.

Frank Liske is also managed as a wildlife and nature preserve protecting various wildlife in the area. Keep an eye out during migratory season for various species of birds passing through the area.

With something for everyone, this park has it all. Frank Liske Park is not far from downtown Harrisburg or Concord, so when you're done playing, head into the towns to get some local eats or treats.
