Visit Frying Pan Farm Park and Kidwell Farm for Family-Friendly Fun!

This destination in Herndon delivers a well-rounded adventure for kids of all ages. Frying Pan Farm Park and Kidwell Farm can truly provide hours of entertainment for the whole family. From a friendly Visitor's Center and Museum, a quaint country store with items both modern and nostalgic and an active farm with a large variety of animals for viewing and petting. The experience has something of interest for every member of your crew.

The expansive grounds feature a carousel, a playground, blacksmith shop, dairy, smokehouse, picnic pavilion and even equestrian facilities with horse shows. There are a historic schoolhouse, barns, and an apple cider press as well.  There is a pre-school on the premises, which is where the playground is, so I suspect there are school hours when the playground may not be available to the general public.

Wagon rides and horse rides are optional activities, and there are wooded trails for hiking. Your family can interact with various farm animals, including some very friendly petting animals, and scheduled opportunities to milk the cows and goats. We were there when one of the cows was ready for milking and leading up to her scheduled milking time she was out in the fields making it known to everyone that it was time.

At the time of our most recent visit, a fun scavenger hunt was available for the kids, which turned out to be fun and in order to find all the items (holiday and wintertime themed) you had to really search the whole grounds of the farm. It was even for the parents! It was a photo hunt, so kids of all ages were could participate, and our three-year-old was actively engaged!

The farm hosts special events and programs throughout the year and best of all - it's FREE!

Glory Days Grill just a few minutes away, is a fun family-friendly restaurant with an impressive kid's menu.
