Waterfront Views of Lake Union and the Seattle Skyline
For a spacious green space with lovely views, head to Gas Works Park with park toys in hand.
On clear days Gas Works Park allows for breathtaking views of the Seattle Skyline, and Lake Union. The park itself is home to the remnants of the Seattle Gas Light Company gasification plant. You can even get up close and personal to these old pipes and structures.
As a local hot spot for outdoor recreation in the heart of Seattle, you’ll find people of all ages flying kites, having picnics, or going for a jog. Paved walking paths make it easy to take a stroller for a spin around the park. The little ones will have the play area to climb on, a perfect hill for rolling, and plenty of grassy space to play catch, kick a ball, or play with a dog.
Big events such as the fourth of July bring crowds flocking to the park to enjoy the best view in the city, and even a particularly sunny day will have Gas Works buzzing with people. While the sparkling lake might look inviting there is no access to Lake Union from Gas Works Park, as its sediment is harmful. Don’t let that stop you from enjoying a day with these views.
