The one stop shop for all things FUN!

Tucked between Church Hill and Rocketts Landing is Gillies Park.  “Park” doesn’t really convey all that is available at this Richmond City Park.  An adult kickball haven, with 18-hole disc-golf course, BMX bike track, a Nature Trail, expansive baseball, football fields, volleyball courts, expansive horseshoe pits, two cornhole games, a playground, and even a petting zoo you would be hard-pressed NOT to find something to put a smile on your face here. Gillies Creek Park is a HUGE 40-acre park and offers something for everyone with a few very unique offerings!

The well-maintained playground is perfect for the littlest adventurers, complete with a petite climbing wall! Tall square shades are perfectly-placed to protect parents and kiddos from the sun while toddlers go upstairs and down the small slide -or the thrilling twisty slide for the risk-takers in the group! It is small but also includes monkey bars, baby swings, swings for kids. Even though the playground is small, everything else around it is amazing.  Endless flat green space for kids to play soccer, frisbee, football, or maybe even kickball.

A quiet nature trail winds its way through the woods near the Williamsburg Road entrance.  The eponymous creek is the focus of this trail and gives visitors a front-row seat to the ecosystem of the James River, which is about a foot field away from the park.

And, if your little one is a bit more adventurous on their bicycle and isn’t thrilled with the prospect of the Capital Bike Trail, the BMX track, here is incredible.  The BMX park has everything from a starting gate to banks turns and a plethora of mounded humps that can be as challenging as a rider chooses to make it.  This BMX track is appropriate for your 7-8-year-olds, but don’t be surprised to see adults, sporting their Vans, fine-tuning their BMX skills.

This is a must check-out space for Richmond families or anyone visiting! Given all the incredible activities they only have porta-potties throughout the park and a few benches to sit. But there is lots of green space to put a picnic blanket down.

Insiders Tip: There are two entrances these are our suggestions for the easiest and quickest way to access what you are looking to do:
