Schedule a Family Visit to Glen Leven Farm!

If you've ever ventured south on Franklin road a bit past Woodmont, you've probably wondered what's tucked away behind the trees.  You'll be stunned to find out that it's actually a 64-acre farm, located only 4 miles from downtown Nashville: Glen Leven Farm.  It's a piece of Nashville living history, founded in 1790, and you'll be surprised to discover the modern-day 'secrets' of the farm. Nashville-based Jackalope Brewing Company grows hops here, the Hermitage Hotel manages a 2-acre heirloom garden, and the arboretum has 25 different species of trees and shrubs that are labeled for public enjoyment and education.

Glen Leven Farm is not regularly open to the public, but it does host scheduled workshops, field trips, open days, group tours, volunteer days, pasture walks, arboretum walks, cultural events, and lectures.  And since my children are homeschooled at present and their normal school typically does field trips to the farm that won't be happening this year, we were delighted to find out that Glen Leven was offering family visits this fall.

My kids (ages 4 & 5) loved the interactive 1.4-mile Nature Trail that was a scavenger hunt. They also loved seeing the donkey on the property, and exploring the grounds around the large home.

Space is limited on the designated visit days so you need to buy a ticket in advance via Eventbrite.  Details vary by season, so recommend checking the latest on the Glen Leven website!
