BAAAA-MASTE!  Spend a Saturday morning laughing and doing yoga with goats!

Tucked away in Brentwood is Goat Yoga Nashville.  Yep, you heard that right.  It's yoga...with goats!  I had heard of this and decided to check it out this Saturday morning with my two animal-loving girls (ages 4 and 6).

We arrived a few minutes in advance of our 9 AM class and checked in.  We walked past a small fenced area holding many goats to a large white canopied tent with a straw floor and several yoga mats (included with the class).  There were also several huge fans that made the class quite comfortable along with the shade of the tent.  We waited for the rest of the class to arrive while one cute goat ran around before us.  When the class started, there was a basic intro telling us about what to expect.  The owner also reminded us that goats are trained to hop on top of you and that sometimes the hooves can be uncomfortable but that you should be fine with a t-shirt (I do not recommend tank tops for the class).  Apparently, goats poop all the time but it's rather small and hard, so simply tug on your mat to remove it if that happens during class (I didn't notice it happening during our class).  We then started 'flowing' to some music and several more goats were let out of the fenced area to join our class.  The owner's family helps coordinate the goats and ensure they are behaving.  They hop all over you and there is a bit of a 'routine' (example, they hop on you during child's pose, etc.).  After about 40 minutes of class, you cool down and then have several minutes to pet the goats, pose with them for pictures, etc.

Young children are welcome but note that children can be a bit scared.  My girls did not like the goats hopping on them but they loved holding them and feeding them.  My four-year-old didn't really do the yoga but she loved watching the class and the goats.

Note: If you are an avid yogi, you might be disappointed with the class.  It's very basic, sometimes hard to hear the instructor, and last around 40 minutes.  But if you head in with the right mindset - to try something new, have a good laugh, and cuddle the precious goats - you'll have an absolute blast!

Also note: Class times are limited so plan in advance.  You must make advanced reservations via Eventbrite.  The cost is $25 / person.  Waivers must be signed in advance electronically.
