Golden Gate Archery Range is an opportunity for experienced archers and novices alike.

Are you looking for a super unique date idea? Does shooting a bow and arrow sound pretty awesome? The Golden Gate Archery Range is a giant outdoor park to practice your skills. It is free to use and open whenever the park is open. There are nine target hay bales at the end of a long field for your enjoyment and are operated on a first-come, first-serve basis. The field can be found on Fulton Street, which is located between 45th and 46th avenues.

The weekends can get a bit busy, but typically people are courteous and patiently wait for a lane to open. Feel free to bring your own targets along, as some of the provided ones are very heavily used.

If this is your first time or you simply need to rent equipment, visit the San Fransisco Archery Pro Shop just a few blocks away. They are located at 3795 Balboa Street and offer equipment package rentals and individual or group lessons. This lesser-known sport is fairly easy to learn but difficult to perfect. You will have to practice a good bit and what better place to do it than at a beautiful free park. It is a hobby that gets you outside, and after the initial investment of equipment, it is super cheap!

The archery range is only one of the many awesome things to do at Golden Gate Park. Check out some of the other articles to see what else you can do here!

Emily Coleman
Emily Coleman is a Jersey girl born and raised who caught the outdoor bug upon moving to Vermont to pursue a degree in Adventure Education and Environmental Studies from Green Mountain College. She spent most of her years before college deeply entrenched in the world of competitive cheerleading before discovering a passion for outdoor sports including mountain biking, white water kayaking, bikepacking, backpacking, slacklining, rock climbing, and skiing. Having been surrounded by children her entire life in her mother's daycare, she always had a strong affinity for kids. She moved to the mountains of Jackson Hole after graduating to coach for the local Kayak Club during the summers and nanny in the winters. Becoming a part of the Happy Active Family team felt like the perfect collision of her passion for building strong community bonds and encouraging an outdoor lifestyle.
