Green Hills of the Platte Wildlife Preserve is a spectacular nature area, totaling nearly 50 acres of absolute beauty.

I was so happy we included this gorgeous wildlife preserve on our Kansas City trip. This was amongst our favorite outdoor spots we explored. The trails here are unpaved but easy to traverse, so you could definitely bring a stroller along. Even though this spot isn't out in the country, it certainly feels like it is. It's just gorgeous! The girls had fun hiking the trails, following animal tracks in the snow and engaging in make-believe play. Gorgeous nature areas like this tend to inspire all sorts of active play, and it was magical to see the girls so happy and inspired in such beautiful natural surroundings.

This nature preserve totals nearly 50 full acres of protected land, with trails winding through. The trails are comprised of limestone and mulch and are quite easy for any level hiker. This area is mostly wooded as you move along the trails, with a bit of prairie mixed in. This nature preserve also features the Day Cabin, which can be reserved for children's programming and other purposes. There's also a nice, rustic outdoor classroom, built as an Eagle Scout project.

Honestly, this place is the perfect compliment to grabbing some of Kansas City's finest meals and coffee. If I had a recommendation here, it would be to head to Kate's Kitchen or the Corner Cafe prior to hiking here. I recommend ordering a nice, hot meal for your family, and bringing it along for some hiking energy. I promise this is a gorgeous place to enjoy a meal outdoors with your family.
